Important Information
• At UQ we refer to your degree as a program and a subject as a course.
• Most UQ courses are usually 2 units in value.
• If you are a full-time student, you will undertake 8 units (usually 4 courses) each semester.
• A course can only count once towards your program requirements (MEdSt Flexible Core, Fields of
Study or Program Electives).
MEdSt Requirements
Students in the 1 year duration program complete 16 units comprising:
• 4 units for MEdSt Flexible Core Courses, and
Either:
• 12 units for MEdSt One Field of Study Option, or
• 12 units for MEdSt No Field of Study Option, and
• 16 units for all approved recognised prior study and/or work experience
How to use this Program Planner
This Program Planner assists you in drafting an enrolment plan to complete the Master of Educational
Studies (MEdSt) (1 year duration) in two semesters of full-time study.
MEdSt Flexible Core and Field of Study Courses that must be taken in sequence are pre-filled. Read the
program rules below, then add the MEdSt Fields of Study and/or Program Elective Courses that you choose
to complete from your program requirements. These can be viewed on the Programs and Courses website.
Don’t forget to save the document to your files.
Please note that you will need to consider the semesters that you complete your MEdSt Flexible Core
Courses, as you will need to complete two courses (4 units) as follows:
• one course from EDUC7111 (Sem 1) OR EDUC7112 (Sem 2); and
• one course from EDUC7211 (Sem 1) OR EDUC7212 (Sem 2).

Students should note that scheduling can change from year to year. You are advised to check the scheduling
for the current year and contact the Faculty for advice if course scheduling has changed.
